Mortimer Nursery’s 3rd Annual Autumn Outreach Fair
was held Saturday, September 13, 2008 from 10:00 AM - 2:00 PM.
Complimentary BBQ by Ash Creek Ranch started at 11:30 AM.
We were honored to host local clubs, non-profit organizations,
and businesses that:
• inspire us to enjoy and conserve our natural resources
• help us to understand and appreciate our local environment and its inhabitants
• encourage us to plant and nourish backyard gardens

Center for Biological Diversity
A
national conservation organization working to protect imperiled
species and their habitats. Their Save the Verde campaign is an effort
to project the Verde River and maintain base flow in the river
threatened by groundwater pumping.
Citizens Water Advocacy Group
CWAG
encourages citizens and elected officials to be aware of water issues
and strives to bring water use to a sustainable level.
City of Prescott “Water Smart”
The
goal of the citywide conservation initiative is to promote water
conservation principles and best management practices among all
municipal users in the water service area.
Prescott Alternative Transportation
PAT
has been working for a bicycle pedestrian friendly central Yavapai
community since 1997. PAT values a balanced transportation system that
includes bicycle, pedestrian, and public transit facilities for those
who cannot or do not want to drive.

Dedicated to preserving and protecting our environment for all who inhabit it.
Gardening Organizations & Outdoor Living
Alta Vista Garden Club
Promotes the love and knowledge of gardening and floral design.
Emphasizes wise conservation practictes to protect our native
environment, including water use and planting selections.
Antelope Garden Club
A
club that focuses on gardening in Chino Valley. Community projects include maintaining planting areas at the
post office, library, police station and community church in Chino
Valley, and an annual plant delivery with Meals-on-Wheels.
Jay’s Bird Barn, LLC
A
specialty store dedicated to helping people attract wild birds to their
yard. They carry bird feeders, bird seed, hummingbird feeders, bird
books, binoculars and lots more!

Prescott Area Iris Society
A
non-profit society open to everyone interested in growing Iris in the
quad-city area. Their aim is to stimulate an interest in iris of any
and all species. Club activities include informative programs and
meetings, annual Iris exhibit, annual rhizome sale, garden tours and
potlucks. Affiliate of Region 15, American Iris Society.
Yavapai Gourd Patch
A
non-profit organization for those interested in the horticulture,
crafting, fine art, and appreciation of hard shell gourds. They provide
charitable and educational activities to members of the Patch, growers,
artists, crafters, and the public through community support and
education.
Green Living Companies
GreenMan Foodscaping
Designs and maintains small, food-producing gardens throughout the
community using only all-natural and organic products. Delivers fresh
produce to clients' homes weekly.
High Desert Rain Catchment
Installers of rainwater catchment and graywater systems. Also offers permaculture design consultation.
Straw Bale Homes
An Arizona Licensed General Contractor specializing in turn key Straw Bale Homes.
Straw Bale construction has been universally accepted as an
environmentally responsible and an energy saving method of building for
decades.
Public Outreach & Education
Highlands Center for Natural History
The
Center’s mission is to help children and adults discover the wonders of
nature and become wise caretakers of the land. They believe that
everyone has a fundamental need to connect with the natural world. This
connection is fostered by the Center through outdoor-science education
based on observation and discovery of the Central Arizona Highlands.
Master Gardeners
The
Master Gardener Program, administered by the University of Arizona
Cooperative Extension in Yavapai County, is a partnership between
Cooperative Extension and volunteers enrolled in the program.
Cooperative Extension trains, certifies and supervises Master Gardener
volunteers who help Cooperative Extension provide information that is
endorsed by the University of Arizona on home horticulture to the
public.
Prescott Farmer’s Market / Prescott College Community-Supported Agriculture
Prescott Farmer’s Market is dedicated to supporting local
agriculture through “grower’s only” markets.
Prescott College Community-Supported Agriculture is an
alternative arrangement to conventional food production and
distribution. PCCSA members sign up for a share and then pick up
their produce weekly.
University of Arizona Cooperative Extension Yavapai County
Fire-Resistive Plants and Landscaping
Conducts educational programs that teach home and property owners how
to create and maintain wildfire defensible landscapes emphasizing fire
resistive plant materials, vegetation management, and other techniques.
Friends of Yavapai College Arts (Sculpture Garden at Yavapai College)
Dedicated to the enhancement of the arts at Yavapai College and in the community.
